The Figleaf Boutique is a clothing ministry designed to assist those who are facing challenging times.  They offer new or gently used clothing free to the shopper.  This is our way to say we care, relieving some of the financial burdens many are facing.
New shoppers fill out a registration sheet and are entered into the computers data base.  Then each family member has the opportunity to chose 10 items per visit.. Boots, shoes, belts, purses and scarves are often available and are limited are 2 per person.  Shoppers are welcome to visit our store once every 3 months.
Figleaf is a non-profit organization with no paid staff.  Mishawaka First has volunteers that are invested in making connections and building community through this clothing ministry.  The building is rented, utilities are paid for, and cleaning supplies etc. are purchased all by the generous donation of others.
You too can be part of a vital, giving ministry by donating financially on the above egiving linl (start by creating a profile), by bringing your gently used clothing on Wednesdays from 10-12 or by serving with your hands and feet being Christ along side of others.  Volunteers help bag selected clothing,  sort and hang donated clothes, or spend time in prayer with shoppers if they are willing.   Mishawaka First United Methodist Church prayer shawls are also available for those who would like one.

Geneva E. and Genevieve A. Long Teacher Memorial Scholarship Fund

We are looking for active members of a United Methodist Church in Penn Township, St Joe county, Indiana, going to school for teaching or a closely related field. The student should have been in the top half of his or her high school graduating class, and priority is given to people who have just graduated high school. A letter of recommendation from your pastor must accompany the application.

Applications can be picked up in the church office or from First Source Bank.

Servants at Work
SAWS is a nonprofit organization that builds wheelchair ramps to provide persons with disabilities and conditions of aging with the freedom to remain in their homes and reconnect with their communities.
SAWS is a faith based, ecumenical ministry that welcomes all who want to share in our mission.  Volunteers come from all walks of life and every vocation imaginable.  Men and women work to provide FREEDOM to anyone who would otherwise be trapped by everyday obstacles and financial circumstances.

FUMC partnered with SAWS recently to help a Mishawaka neighbor with the gift of FREEDOM!  Here are some pictures from the awesome build and keep checking for information on helping with the next build for a member of our congregation!
