Narrative Theology - The theme of narratives and stories have come up again and again this summer. I can’t seem to get Narrative Theology out of my head. Instead, let me share it and in doing so, get it stuck in your head.
Narrative Theology is, in essence, looking at God through stories. It sounds incredibly simple at first, but as layers upon layers of stories are added, complexity is certain to come. Some of the stories that we look at, with this approach, are those of the New and Old Testament, but we certainly don’t stop there. We must also look at the stories of the early church, denominations, and our local church as well as individuals’ stories. Narrative Theology states that you cannot tell a story without telling at least a portion of God’s story. This is how all-present and powerful our God is.
We can hardly get the full picture of Narrative Theology, but that is okay. What we do understand is that God works through the power of stories and memories. Yet, God’s full potential cannot be realized unless we take action to share these stories, as well as listen to the stories of others.
The Well Student Ministry will be practicing these two skills this Fall. Join us, or recommend us to a friend. Come listen to The Story.
