Preparedness Plan

Preparedness Plan

We at First United Methodist Church want to be proactive in our preparedness to protect and educate our children, staff and congregation.

Active Perpetrator Training:

Mishawaka Police Captain, Bob Reppert will be coming to FUMC on Monday March 26th at 6:30 pm.  This training will educate our staff, lay leaders, ushers, ministry leaders, volunteers and any other attenders of the congregation who are interested.  This training will prepare us on what to do in the event of a threat to our church or areas of our community where FUMC could be a resource.

Stop the Bleed:

A trauma educator, Stacie Bobeck, from Memorial Hospital and Beacon Health System will be hosting a Stop the Bleed training on April 18 at 6 p.m.  During an emergency situation far too many deaths occur as a result of the inability to quickly stop hemorrhaging and the time it takes to transport an injured person to a medical facility.   This training will teach our staff, ushers, laity leaders and interested congregation members those life-saving skills.  We will also be hosting Stacie for a non-certificate CPR, First Aid and AED training on April 18 at 7:15 p.m.  The Stop the Bleed and Non Certificate First Aid, CPR and AED training night should conclude at roughly 8:15 p.m.

We open these trainings and classes up to the congregation and all who want to attend.  We also strongly encourage all of our ministry coordinators, team leaders, volunteers that work with our youth and ushers to attend these trainings.  The signup sheets are in the office.
